Installation Guide
Wiper Blade Installation Guide
This guide applies to Heritagedeni windshield wiper products and is intended to help customers complete the standard installation process. Installation can typically be completed in approximately 10 minutes without professional tools.
Please confirm vehicle compatibility before installation.
1. Before You Begin
Wiper blade sizes and connector types vary depending on vehicle make, model, year, and configuration. Please verify compatibility before installation.
Recommended Ways to Confirm Fitment:
- Check your vehicle owner’s manual
- Measure the length of the existing wiper blades (in inches)
- Use a vehicle fitment lookup tool
Recommended Replacement Interval:
Wiper blades should generally be inspected or replaced every 6 months. Replacement frequency may vary depending on climate and driving conditions.
2. Types of Wiper Blades
Different wiper blade styles have different structural designs:
| Type | Description | Common Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Conventional | Metal frame structure | Older vehicles |
| Beam | Frameless flexible design | Most modern vehicles |
| Hybrid | Protective outer shell design | Mixed weather conditions |
3. Installation Steps
Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle
- Turn the ignition to accessory mode (ACC)
- Activate the wipers briefly and stop them midway on the windshield
- Place a towel or soft cloth on the windshield beneath the wiper arms
- Carefully lift the wiper arms away from the glass surface
⚠️ Caution: Avoid allowing the bare wiper arm to snap back onto the windshield, as this may cause damage.
Step 2: Remove the Old Wiper Blade
J-Hook / U-Hook Arms (Most Common)
- Rotate the wiper blade to a vertical position
- Locate the release tab or locking mechanism
- Press the release tab
- Slide the blade downward and remove it from the hook
Other Connector Types
Some vehicles may use side-pin, top-lock, or push-button connectors. Press the release mechanism and slide the blade out carefully.
💡 Tip: Replace one blade at a time to use the opposite side as a reference if needed.
Step 3: Install the New Wiper Blade
⚠️ Before installation, remove any protective plastic cover or shipping strip from the rubber blade.
Installation steps:
- Align the connector with the wiper arm
- Slide the blade into position
- Push until the locking mechanism engages (a soft “click” may be heard)
- Gently pull the blade to confirm it is securely attached
- Carefully lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield
Common Connector Types
- J/U Hook: Slide into the hook and rotate into place
- Pin-Type: Align with the pin and press into position
- Push-Button: Press the release tab while installing
Step 4: Repeat on the Other Side
Repeat the same process for the passenger-side wiper blade. If the vehicle is equipped with a rear wiper, a similar installation method may apply.
Step 5: Test the Wiper Blades
After installation:
- Spray windshield washer fluid onto the glass
- Run the wipers through several cycles
- Confirm that:
- The blades move smoothly
- Wiping performance is even
- No abnormal noise or skipping occurs
- The blades do not contact the windshield edges
If any issue occurs, recheck the installation and locking position.
4. Common Issues and Precautions
| Issue | Possible Cause | Recommended Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Poor wiping performance | Protective strip not removed | Remove protective cover |
| Blade becomes loose | Lock not fully engaged | Reinstall and confirm lock |
| Uneven wiping | Incorrect installation angle | Recheck orientation |
| Windshield damage risk | Wiper arm released suddenly | Always use a towel or soft cloth |
